The Prophet (SAW) paid stress on the rights and parents’ respect in Islam. The Prophet (SAW) also focused on the responsibilities of their children, in the same way as he focused on the rights of children and the responsibilities of their parents.

Parents are to be treated well at all times, and The Almighty’s blessings in having empowered you to do this virtuous act, be considered as an extraordinary resource in this world and the Hereafter. Because the appreciation we should pay our parents respect has been over and over underlined in the Holy Quran. So, In one of the verses, Allah says.

“Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and yet be kind to your parents.”

(Qur’an 17:23)

Recognition and parents’ respect are specified eleven times in the Quran. And In every occurrence, Allah reminds children to admire the care, love, and affection they got from their parents. For example, in one viewpoint, Allah demands parents respect for their children by saying:

“We have enjoined on man kindness to parents.”

(Quran 29:8 & 46:15)

Pleasing the Parents Causes Allah’s Pleasure:

Parents’ respect plays a vital role in pleasing Allah. Therefore, any individual who tries to please Allah ought to win the great joy of his parents. So, keeping the parents very satisfied is vital since their anger and disappointment will prompt Allah’s anger and displeasure. Therefore, the Prophet (SAW) said:

“In the good pleasure of the father lies the good pleasure of the Creator, and in his displeasure lies the displeasure of the Creator.”

Serving the Parents Is Preferable to Jihaad:

When a person gives importance to parents’ respect and needs his assistance and consideration, he should serve them rather than go to Jihaad.

A person once came to the Prophet (SAW) and said that he wanted to participate in the Jihaad.

The Prophet asked him, “Are your parents alive?”

“Yes, they are alive,” he replied.

The Prophet said. “Then strive in their service and assist them at the time of their need. (This is your Jihaad.)”

Great Sin For Disobeying the Parents:

The Prophet (SAW) declared the parent’s respect that serving one’s parents well is an act of great virtue; he condemned the showing of disobedience to them, or harming them, as a most serious and detestable sin.

The Prophet (SAW) has said

To abuse one’s parents is also a major sin.”

“Can anyone abuse his parents?” “Yes,” the Prophet replied, “If a person abused someone else’s parents and that person, in retaliation, abused his parents – then it is as though he had abused his parents.”

From Allah and his Prophet (SAW) above sayings, we can see the importance of parents’ respect in Islam.
