Do you fear the evil eye, or have you ever been affected by it? If yes, are you worried about how to protect yourself from evil eye? How to avoid it? What are the duas for protection from evil eye? You will get all the answers to your questions here.
What Is The Evil Eye?
The evil eye is a look believed to bring bad luck to the person directed at it for envy or dislike. It is a common belief that the Evil Eye can harm people, animals, or objects.
It is mentioned in the Quran,
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes [i.e., looks] when they hear the message, and they say, “Indeed, he is mad.”
How To Protect Yourself From Evil Eye
When a person is close to Allah, always remembering Him and reciting Quran, he has fewer chances to be affected by evil eyes. Here are a few tips from the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on how you can be protected from evil eyes.
It’s highly recommended to recite the following Surahs from the Quran. Hazrat Aisha narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) ordered to do Ruqya from evil eyes.
Ruqya refers to these Surahs,
- Surah Ikhlas
- Al-mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Falaq and Surah Nas)
- Ayat ul Kursi
Recite Surah Ikhlas
Reciting Surah Ikhlas, Surah Al- Falaq, and Surah Nas three times in the morning when you awake and three times in the evening.
The Prophet said:
‘Qul Hoo WAllahu Ahad’ and ‘Muwaidaitain’ when you enter the evening and morning, protecting you from everything.
(Tirmidhee # 3575), Aby Daud (# 5084).
Surah Ikhlas English Translation
Say, “He is Allāh, [who is] One,
Allāh, the Self-sufficient
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
Al-Muawwidhatayn means the last two Surahs seeking refuge, Surah Al Falaq and Surah Nas.
Surah Al Falaq English Translation
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
From the evil of that which He created
And from the evil of darkness when it settles
And from the evil of the blowers in knots
And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”
Surah Nas English Translation
Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of humanity,
The Sovereign of humanity,
The God of humanity,
From the evil of the retreating whisperer –
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of humanity –
From among the Jinn and humanity.”
Whenever you recite these Surahs, do so with a solid belief they are an actual supplication and protection for you. Ibn Al-Qayyim said that
The effectiveness of these surahs is excellent for repelling magic, evil eye, and the rest of the evils. The demand for a slave to seek Allah’s protection from these two surahs is more significant than his need for self, eating, drinking, and wearing the dress.[Al-Fawwaid]
Recite Ayat ul Kursi
Reciting Ayat ul Kursi and other supplications will keep us safe from the Evil eyes and Jinn.
Allāh – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Highest, the Greatest.
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:225)
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) spoke about the reality of the evil eye and advised his followers to recite certain verses of the Quran to protect themselves.
Praising the goodness in another
Good things happen to everyone; whenever we see something we like in someone, we are encouraged to say MashAllah, Allahumma Barik, TabarakAllah, etc.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) condemned followers who admired someone or something without praising Allah:
“Why would one of you kill his brother? If you see something that you like, then pray for blessing for him.”
