Dhul Qadah is the second last month of the Islamic calendar. It is from the word “Qa’ada,” which means to sit; this is the third holy month in which battling was illegal. So, The individuals used to stop their personal and business activities this month and sit and get ready for the Hajj (Pilgrimage). Therefore, this is additionally a sacred month.
Indeed, the number of months with Allāh is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allāh [from] the day He created the heavens and the Earth. [Al-Tauba:36]
Shaikh Sayyiduna Abdul Qadir Jilani (May Allah be pleased with him) said in his book:
“The number of months in the sight of Allah is 12 months. “Book of Almighty Allah” already inscribed these months. that is, on the Well-Kept Tablet [al-lawh al-Mahfuz] – “on the day when He created the heavens and the earth; four of them are sacred….”
The names of the sacred four months are Rajab, Dhul Qadah, Dhul Hajjah, and Muharram. So, One of these holy months remains in disconnection, specifically Rajab, while the other three happen in a back-to-back arrangement. Abu Bakrah (R) narrates that the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: “The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhul Qadah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab which comes between Jumada and Sha’ban.”
Events Occur in Dhul Qadah month:
- In 5 A.H., The battle of Khandaq and Ahzab took place.
- In the year 6 A.H, Truce of Hudaubiyah and Bay’at-e-Rizwaan’
- In 7 A.H., The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.) and his Companions came to Makkah to perform Umrah.
Some false convictions are joined to this month by oblivious individuals. They say this month is not a favored month; accordingly, relational unions ought not to be held or solemnized in Dhul Qadah. As indicated by them, a marriage held in this month may not be fruitful; instead, it may convey trouble to the husbands. This conviction is entirely ridiculous. A Muslim should never go to such superstitious impulses.
The month is one of the purified months, as said prior. Anas (R) said that Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.) performed three Umrah this month. He performed one Umra from Al Hudaibiya in Dhul Qadah, another Umra this year “Dhul Qadah,” a third from Al-Jirana, where he distributed the war booty of Hunain, in Dhul Qadah. Then, he performed Hajj in the last month, “Dhul Hajjah” of the Islamic calendar.
The Importance of 25th Dhul Qadah:
On the night of the 25th, Dhul Qadah is called laylat dahw al-arz. The history of this night is that on this night, the Earth was extended to the water where the Holy Kaba is situated. Because On this night, the blessings that Allah Almighty bestows on people.
Many people pray this night, and Allah Almighty gives a reward who practices acts of worship. Suppose someone who is fasting on this day is equal to seventy-year fasting. It also erases the sins of seventy years. The worship on this night is equal to a hundred of worship. On this day, Recite Surah Al Fatiha one time and Surah Shams five times. Amir al Muminin Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.) said:
“The first mercy descended from heaven towards Earth on the 25th day of Dhul Qadah. One who fasts on this day and performs prayers at night shall get a reward for hundred years of worship. And if a group of people gathers at a place in remembrance of Allah the Almighty, their prayers will be answered before they disperse.
Thus, on this day, thousands & thousands of mercy descend (on Earth), and 99% of mercy is bestowed upon those people (who keep themselves busy) in remembrance of Allah, fast on this day, and perform prayers in the night.”
It is a great month, So we as Muslims should pray on this Dhul Qadah month as much as we can to obtain the blessings of God.
