Ever since 2010, shops around the world have adopted Black Friday instead of the white Friday frenzy to promote sales. By offering a more significant sale than any other day in the year, they attract the masses for colossal spending. Let us know about White Friday.
When is White Friday?
Most people know White Friday as the day after Thanksgiving at the end of November when stores open early and offer various sales. This day, these stores are often “in the black” (profitable).
How does the concept of Black Friday starts?
But the true story of Black Friday is darker. The term “Black Friday” was first used on September 24, 1869. When two investors drove up the price of gold and caused a crash that day. The stock market dropped 20%, and foreign trade stopped. Farmers suffered a 50% dip in wheat and corn harvest value.
In the 1950s, Philadelphia police used the “Black Friday” term to refer to the day between Thanksgiving and the Army-Navy game. Huge crowds of shoppers and tourists went to the city that Friday, and cops had to work long hours to cover the crowds and traffic.
The story behind Black Friday
While people associate Black Friday with Thanksgiving in the United States, businesses in the Middle East and Muslim region have altered their names to suit the culture.
One online Vendor in a Muslim country once announced, “In the Muslim world, Friday is the day of prayer, the day of the gathering, the day off, the family day, the day of joy, so surely … our Friday is WHITE and we called it White Friday!”
White Friday Offers
Black Friday, the biggest pinpoint of the year, occurs in the third week of November in the US, and White Friday is the Middle Eastern equivalent of Black Friday. An annual shopping event takes place in the final days of November. Both are not just one-day meal; the customers are offered sales, discounts, and amazing product deals throughout the week or two.
Importance of Friday in Islam
While millions of people worldwide await the White Friday offers, we’re blessed with weekly Friday bounties.
Luckily for us, every Friday is a blessed day.
Abu Hurairah (RAA) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“The best of your days is Friday. On that day, Adam (peace be upon him) got created, and on that day, he died. On that day, the Trumpet will be blown, and on that day, all of creation will swoon. So send a lot of blessings upon me, for this will show your blessings to me.” They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you have turned to dust?” He said, “Allaah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets; peace be upon them.”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1047; classed as Saheeh by Ibn al-Qayyim
Abu Hurairah (RAH) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said:
The five [daily prescribed] Prayers, and Friday [prayer] to the [next] Friday [prayer], and Ramadan to the next Ramadan, is the expiation of the sins committed in between them, so long as major sins are avoided.“
Abu Hurairah (RAA) reported that the Prophet (PBUH) said while talking about Friday:
“There is a time on it (i.e., Friday) at which Allah grants the request of any Muslim servant who, at this time, happens to be asking Allah for something while standing in Prayer.” And the Prophet (PBUH) pointed with his hand to indicate that this period is concise.
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Every Friday, Allah will bless those who recite surah Al-kahf with light.
“Whoever reads Surah al Kahf on the day of Jummah will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next “
On it is Salaat al-Jumu’ah, which is the best of prayer.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu’ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu’ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for you if you did but know!”
Ibn’ Umar narrated that The Messenger (SAA) said:
“The best prayer before Allaah is the Fajr prayer on Friday in the congregation.”

Allah’s blessings on Friday
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever sends Salah upon me once, Allah will send Salah upon him ten-fold, erase ten sins from him, and raise him ten degrees in status.”
